Former members of the Biden-Harris administration have begun to reveal some uncomfortable truths, which, while enlightening, have also sparked frustration due to their delayed timing.
One such individual is Michael LaRosa, who served as Jill Biden's traveling press secretary during Joe Biden's 2020 presidential campaign. Following Biden's inauguration, LaRosa assumed the role of the First Lady's press secretary, a position he held until his resignation in the summer of 2022, following Mrs. Biden's infamous San Antonio "breakfast taco" incident.
Since his departure, LaRosa has made several startling revelations about his time in the Biden White House. However, it's his claims following the Bidens' exit from office that have garnered significant attention and elicited numerous "I told you so" responses. According to RedState, in February, LaRosa confessed, "The presidents team was scared to death of impromptu, unscripted, unrehearsed, unpracticed, unchoreographed, anything, they couldnt compete for the attention economy."
LaRosa also acknowledged the team's awareness of Biden's age as a potential issue from the very beginning. Furthermore, he admitted that the accusations of "gaslighting" leveled against Biden's handlers concerning questions about his cognitive health were indeed accurate.
In a recent conversation with "Young Turks" founder and host Cenk Uygur, LaRosa delved deeper into the administration's relationship with the press. He detailed how many journalists complied with the demands made by Biden's staff, with some even providing their questions in advance to secure an interview with the President.
LaRosa revealed, I thought it was weird that they only did interviews for quote approval. There was this thing in Biden world about quote approval, everything had to be on quote approval, He explained that this practice involved one person on Bidens team deciding what the reporter can use, what quotes they can use following an interview with the President.
LaRosa further alleged that young press staffers in the Biden administration were dog trained to manipulate reporters into asking specific questions and revealing their queries before interviews. He recalled, I mean you saw them get caught trying to script questions to radio reporters that summer, summer of 2024. It was very reminiscent to me of being on the campaign in 2020, where these young press staffers in these states like New Hampshire, or Iowa, or Nevada, they were sort of like dog trained to make the questions conditional for interviews,
LaRosa claimed that he personally rejected this practice during his tenure as the First Lady's press secretary, advising his team, Please never ask the journalist for the questions ahead of time. You can always ask about the topics, but do not ask them for the questions for Dr. Biden,
These revelations align with the observed and reported behavior of the Biden administration during its four-year term. The administration's efforts to restrict press access to the President and control the questions and answers during interviews were evident.
One notable example was the aftermath of Biden's poor performance in the June 2024 debate against then-GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump. It was later revealed that leftist radio hosts had agreed to ask White House/Biden campaign-approved questions during "interviews." These interviews were designed to reassure voters and downplay Biden's disastrous debate performance.
Independent journalist Glenn Greenwald once noted, "The most significant media scandal of the Biden years was how they did not just hide what the public knew -- Biden's severe cognitive decline to the point he couldn't remotely govern -- but their aggressive attacks on anyone pointing it out as 'disinformation agents.'"
These revelations and the media's response to them underscore why complaints from mainstream media and their defenders about Trump's confrontations with certain news outlets, such as the Associated Press, are largely ignored outside of the Acela Media cocktail circuit. It's a classic case of reaping what one sows.
