In a recent appearance on Fox Business, White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Harrison Fields took aim at Democratic California Representative Maxine Waters, suggesting her retirement would benefit the U.S. Capitol.
Fields' remarks came in response to Waters' accusations during the Democrats annual issues retreat in Northern Virginia, where she claimed President Donald Trump was inciting violence and attempting to provoke a civil war through his policies. These policies, according to Waters, include imposing tariffs, dismissing federal employees, and empowering figures like Elon Musk to dismantle government services.
As reported by the Daily Caller, Fields dismissed Waters as not a credible voice and criticized her history of advocating for confrontational protests against Republicans. Maxine Waters is another good reason why we need term limits. This is a woman that entered Congress before I was even born. At 86 years old, she is still spewing the same crazy stuff that she spewed over 30 years ago, Fields stated during his conversation with host Elizabeth MacDonald. He further characterized Waters as an agitator, asserting, She was the same Maxine Waters that a couple of years ago was telling people to hit the streets, get in the faces of Republicans, and yell and scream and carry on. Shes not a serious woman. She is an agitator who is not becoming of a congresswoman. No one should take her seriously. Hopefully she will retire because the U.S. Capitol will be a whole lot better without her in it.
The discussion on Fox Business also touched upon a perceived disconnect within the Democratic Party, with MacDonald highlighting polling data that suggests Americans are weary of pandemic shutdowns, social justice riots, and ongoing mandates. Fields echoed these sentiments, recounting a recent meeting with President Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi, where they pledged to restore safety in America. Theyre still scratching their heads on how they lost. Listen, I just got back from the Department of Justice with the president of the United States in which he pledged alongside Attorney General Pam Bondi to make America safe again, to arrest and prosecute those crazy criminals that we see in Trump Tower, in Columbia University, and all across this nation that are not protesting, Fields remarked.
He emphasized the administrations stance against illegal protests, stating, These people are engaging in violence, and theyre engaging in illegal protests that should not be tolerated. When you become a threat to society in the name of protesting, you are now a criminal, and you will be taken care of under this Department of Justice.
Waters has a history of making bold statements against Trump, including her 2021 assertion that he was capable of inciting a civil war and her previous call for him to be charged with premeditated murder for the events of January 6.
Meanwhile, Democrats continue to challenge Trump's agenda through legal avenues, with the Democratic National Committee, education organizations, and teachers unions leading efforts to oppose proposed cuts to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. These groups are actively encouraging educational institutions to resist such measures, reflecting ongoing tensions between the administration and its opponents.
