In a recent broadcast of "The Beat," MSNBC host Katie Phang delivered a scathing critique of President Donald Trump's address at the Department of Justice, labeling it an "unprecedented and shameful public display."
Phang's remarks underscored her view that Trump's actions represented a significant deviation from established norms, accusing him of further eroding the integrity of the Justice Department and undermining the rule of law.
As reported by Breitbart, Phang asserted, "We start today with an unprecedented and shameful public display by President Trump, revealing a new low in his corruption of the Justice Department and his attack on the rule of law."
She highlighted the rarity of a president visiting the DOJ, particularly in the context of an ongoing investigation into his alleged misconduct. During his speech, Trump reportedly called for the incarceration of his political adversaries and suggested that criticism of judges and claims of election loss should be deemed illegal.
Trump's own words during the speech were emphatic: "The people who did this to us should go to jail. A lot of the judges that I had, if you look at them, they take tremendous abuse. They take such abuse. And honestly, theyre a very simply theyre afraid of bad publicity. It should be illegal and it probably is illegal. Newspapers are really no different than a highly paid political operative. It has to stop. it has to be illegal. What a difference a rigged and crooked election had on our country. when you think about it. and the people who did this to us should go to jail. they should go to jail."
