Democrats often tout themselves as the "party of the people," yet their conduct during President Trump's recent address suggests otherwise.
The president's speech on Tuesday night highlighted the pressing issue of oppressive taxes that burden many Americans, leaving them struggling to provide for their families. Despite this, Democrats remained unmoved, neither standing nor applauding when Trump proposed tax reforms.
As reported by The Blaze, Pat Gray of "Pat Gray Unleashed" criticized the current tax system, stating, "The tax situation in this country has to change, because it is flat-out immoral and wrong and just government theft." Gray's remarks underscore the frustration felt by many conservatives who view high taxes as an overreach of government power.
President Trump proposed several measures aimed at alleviating the financial strain on Americans, such as eliminating taxes on tips, overtime pay, and Social Security. These changes would particularly benefit those struggling to make ends meet.
However, Democrats, who often claim to advocate for the working class, remained silent. Gray expressed disbelief at their stance, particularly regarding Social Security taxes: "If you tax Social Security, that itself was a tax that we already paid! So when you get just a tiny little portion of it back, you gotta be taxed on that again!"
This incident has provided the nation with a clearer view of the priorities held by these so-called "pro-working-class" Democrats. Their lack of support for tax relief measures raises questions about their true commitment to the American people.
