In a recent development, the Texas Rio Grande Valley is witnessing the resumption of a border wall upgrade construction project, previously halted by President Joe Biden.

The announcement came from U.S. Border Patrol Chief Michael Banks, who stated that the Trump administration had ordered the recommencement of the project along the Texas-Mexico border.

According to Breitbart, the project involves replacing six-foot guard rails with 18-foot bollard panels. These panels are designed to deter illegal aliens from crossing the border from Mexico into Texas. "These panels were originally planned for installation during the prior Trump Administration, but the contracts were cancelled by the Biden Administration," Banks explained. "The panels going in today will replace the six-foot guard rails and will provide impedance and denial capabilities in support of the Presidents recent Executive Orders to ensure complete operational control of the Southern border."

The announcement coincided with a visit to the Texas border in Eagle Pass by Vice President JD Vance and other top Trump officials. Among the visitors were Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard. During the visit, the Vice President emphasized the need for Mexico's sustained commitment to border security.

"Fentanyl is the single largest cause of death among young Americans, and we know that a substantial portion of the precursors are made in China. They come to Mexico. Theyre manufactured in Mexico and brought across the border by the Mexican drug cartels," he told reporters.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who met with the Trump delegation in Eagle Pass, echoed the Vice President's sentiments. He highlighted the state's efforts to secure the border and criticized the previous administration's approach. "All our country needed to secure the border was a new President," Abbott stated. "Together, we will make America safe again."

Breitbart Texas reported a significant decrease in migrant encounters due to the actions taken by President Donald Trump and his national security team. The number of migrants arrested by Border Patrol agents for illegally crossing the Mexican border into the United States fell by 94 percent in February compared to the previous year. The figure dropped from over 140,641 to just over 8,300. The numbers continued to plummet during the transition of power in January, falling to just over 29,000.

Texas Department of Public Safety Spokesman Lt. Chris Olivarez reported a further decrease in the daily migrant apprehension rate along the southwest border. By February 22, the number of migrants encountered fell to 185. Breitbart Texas had earlier reported that border encounters in February averaged about 328 per day. If this trend continued, migrant encounters for February could have been as low as 9,200. However, the actual number reported by Chief Banks exceeded this prediction with the arrest of 8,326 migrants.

This figure represents a record low in CBP reports dating back to the last full year of the Clinton administration (FY2000). The previous low occurred during President Trumps third full month of his first in office (April 2017) when agents encountered 11,127 migrants. This significant decrease in migrant encounters underscores the effectiveness of the renewed border security measures and the commitment of the current administration to uphold the nation's security and sovereignty.
