Investigation Into AOC's 'Know Your Rights' Webinar Is UNDERWAY!

New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is seeking clarification from the Department of Justice (DOJ) on whether she is under investigation for allegedly obstructing the immigration policies of the Trump administration.

According to Conservative Daily News, Ocasio-Cortez penned a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi on Thursday, questioning if the DOJ has launched an investigation into her actions. This inquiry comes after her office conducted a webinar aimed at assisting illegal immigrants in evading deportation.

Tom Homan, the so-called "Border Czar," has repeatedly insinuated that this virtual "Know Your Rights" meeting violated federal law and constituted an attempt to hinder the Trump administration's immigration policies. Homan has also reached out to the deputy attorney general, requesting a review of Ocasio-Cortez's webinar.

In her letter, Ocasio-Cortez stated, I write to request clarity on whether the Department of Justice (DOJ) has yielded to political pressure and attempts to weaponize the agency against elected officials whose speech they disagree with." She further noted that Homan has been "threatening political prosecution against me, citing resources I distributed informing my constituents and the American public of their constitutional and legal rights. She also mentioned Homan's announcement on February 13, 2025, that he had requested an investigation, and his assertion that she will be "in trouble now."

Homan, during a Fox News appearance earlier in February, expressed his desire to determine whether Ocasio-Cortez's actions could be categorized as "impeding our law enforcement efforts." He stated, If so, what are we going to do about it? Is she crossing the line? So Im working with the Department of Justice and finding out.

Ocasio-Cortez's district, which encompasses parts of the Bronx and Queens in New York City, is deemed a "sanctuary city," a term used to describe cities that do not fully cooperate with federal immigration enforcement personnel. Her website provides advice to constituents who may be targeted in immigration raids, including their rights to refuse entry to federal immigration officers and to decline to speak to immigration enforcement.

The congresswoman contends that the webinar falls under the protection of the First Amendment, and that Homan's insinuations of investigation or prosecution constitute a textbook threat to the right to free speech in the United States. She has requested a response from Bondi to her letter, first reported by Axios, by March 5.

President Donald Trump has consistently pledged to execute the largest deportation operation in American history, following the Biden administration's significant relaxation of immigration enforcement, which allowed millions of illegal immigrants to enter the country over a four-year period. In addition to Ocasio-Cortez, left-wing activist groups have sought to disrupt or weaken immigration raids in major cities such as Los Angeles.

Despite some Democrats condemning the Trump administration's deportation agenda as cruel and inhumane, recent polls suggest that a majority of Americans support the deportation of illegal immigrants.
