Renowned filmmaker Michael Moore has voiced apprehensions regarding the Trump administration's immigration policies, suggesting that the deportation of illegal immigrants could potentially hinder scientific advancements.
Moore speculates that among those being deported might be individuals capable of groundbreaking achievements, such as curing cancer or averting catastrophic events like an asteroid impact. In a Substack post, Moore questioned, Whos really being removed by ICE tonight? The child who wouldve discovered the cure for cancer in 2046? The 9th grade nerd who wouldve stopped that Astroid [sic] thats gonna hit us in 2032?
As reported by Breitbart, Moore drew parallels to the story of Steve Jobs, whose father, Abdulfattah Jandali, hailed from Syria. Moore highlighted the potential loss of innovation by stating, We get nothing from that Syrian Muslim who sired a Jr. Abdulfattah. A nothing-migrant with a nothing-out-of-wedlock-baby, before acknowledging the transformative impact of Jobs, Except that nothing-baby was soon adopted and given an American name Steve Jobs. Yes, that Steve Jobs.
Moore expressed gratitude for the contributions of immigrants, noting, I am grateful for that Muslim migrant baby being born here 70 years ago today. Because if he hadnt, its possible we would have none of his inventions.
Moore's critique extended to the supporters of President Trump, whom he described as "bigots" for their stance on immigration. He urged reflection, saying, This little story, I hope, will give pause to any bigot who constantly rails against the danger we are all in because of these filthy, lowlife aliens.
He further emphasized the positive impact of immigrants, stating, Those of us who count ourselves as part of the non-hater demographic of Americans cannot even begin to add up or ascertain the innumerable ways our lives have been made better by our beloved immigrant neighbors.
The filmmaker also criticized the actions of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), remarking, ICE agents all across America are banging down doors to remove the dangerous illegals, and lamented the potential loss of community contributions, But one of them mightve been the guy who tomorrow was going to help rebuild a childrens playground across town but he is now in shackles on a military cargo plane on its way to Guatemala.
Despite Moore's concerns, the Trump administration has focused on the deportation of individuals involved in serious crimes, including child rapists, human and drug traffickers, and gang members. This approach aligns with the mandate given by the American electorate, as President Trump secured a decisive victory in the 2024 election, capturing both the Electoral College and the popular vote, along with every swing state.
