In a heated exchange that has captured the attention of media circles, former CNN anchor Don Lemon directed a profane outburst at conservative commentator Megyn Kelly, labeling her as "racist.
".
This confrontation arose after Kelly expressed satisfaction over the cancellation of Joy Reid's MSNBC program. Lemon, who parted ways with CNN in 2023 after a 17-year tenure, appeared to be particularly affected by Kelly's remarks regarding Reid's show being axed due to poor ratings.
As reported by Breitbart, Kelly, who herself exited NBC in 2019, took to social media platform X to voice her disdain for Reid, stating, "Joy Reid has viciously mocked the tears of every white person shes helped cancel over the years for some imaginary racial slight. Shes had zero empathy for anyone. Now she wants us to feel sorry for her. WE DONT." This comment was in response to a video clip showing Reid emotionally asserting the "value" of her show.
Lemon, addressing the issue on his YouTube channel while sipping from a mug bearing the logo of Kelly's defunct NBC show, launched into a tirade against Kelly. "So let me just say to Megyn Kelly, in my 30-some years as a journalist and my 50-some years as a person of color, go f*ck yourself," Lemon declared.
He criticized Kelly for allegedly building her career on controversy and accused her of failing to support fellow women, particularly Reid. "So this is what Megyn Kelly said about Joy Reid, right? And remember, Joy Reid is a woman. Megyn Kellys a woman. Shes supposed to be all about women, and, you know, support women," Lemon remarked.
Further, Lemon accused Kelly of consistently demonstrating racist tendencies and lacking solidarity with women since her departure from NBC. He went so far as to label her "the worst person on television," contrasting her with Reid. "When I said Donald Trump, the president of the United States, was racist, it wasnt my opinion. This isnt my opinion about Megyn Kelly. The evidence is there," Lemon asserted.
This clash underscores the ongoing tensions between media figures with divergent political ideologies. While Lemon's comments reflect a defense of Reid and a critique of Kelly's approach, Kelly's remarks highlight her critical stance on what she perceives as Reid's lack of empathy. The incident serves as a reminder of the polarized nature of contemporary media discourse, where personal and professional conflicts often intersect with broader political and social debates.
