WATCH: DOJ's Pam Bondi Makes POWER Move After THESE Violations!

In a bold move that underscores the federal government's commitment to upholding immigration laws, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced on Wednesday that the Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed charges against the State of New York and several of its top officials.

The accused include Governor Kathy Hochul, Attorney General Letitia James, and Department of Motor Vehicles Commissioner Mark Schroeder.

According to RedState, Bondi, who was only confirmed a week ago, wasted no time in asserting her authority. The charges, as she described, accuse New York and its officials of violating federal immigration laws. "We're here today because we have filed charges against the State of New York, we have filed charges against Kathy Hochul, we have filed charges against Letitia James and Mark Schroeder who is with DMV," Bondi stated. "New York has chosen to prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens. It stops - it stops today."

The Attorney General's stern warning is a clear indication of the DOJ's resolve to enforce federal immigration laws. "President Trump has directed this to stop. And if you don't comply with federal law, we will hold you accountable. We did it to an Illinois (sic) strike one, strike two is New York. And if you are a state not complying with federal law, you're next, get ready," Bondi continued.

This development should not come as a surprise to officials in blue states. Tom "The Hammer" Homan, the Border czar, has been vocal about the federal government's intention to prosecute any state, city, or local officials who obstruct federal officials in their duties of locating, detaining, and repatriating illegal aliens. Bondi's actions demonstrate that this is not an idle threat.

President Trump's campaign heavily emphasized the issue of mass repatriations, and recent surveys indicate that a significant percentage of Americans support this effort. The actions taken by the DOJ under Bondi's leadership are consistent with this mandate.

Speculation is rife about which state could be next on Bondi's radar. California, with the highest number of illegal immigrants by a considerable margin, could be a potential target. The California Assembly is already allocating funds to shelter illegal aliens, which could set the stage for Bondi's next legal challenge.

The Democrats, during the previous administration, insisted that immigration is a federal, not a state, issue. Now, with the shoe on the other foot, it appears that the federal government is taking decisive action to assert its authority in this area.

While Bondi refers to "charges" having been filed, it appears she's referring to the DOJ suing the New York entities and individuals, similar to the action filed against the State of Illinois and its authorities. The filing is not yet available for review, but it does not appear she's referring to criminal charges. Regardless, this move by the DOJ sends a strong message about the federal government's commitment to enforcing immigration laws and prioritizing the interests of American citizens.
