In a recent appearance on Fox News' "The Ingraham Angle," Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem articulated her intention to hold sanctuary city mayors accountable for defying federal immigration laws.

This declaration underscores the Trump administration's commitment to enforcing immigration policies and ensuring compliance at all levels of government.

As reported by Conservative Daily News, Noem emphasized the administration's stance on legal adherence, stating, "Nobodys above the law. Of course we will. But thats up to President Trump. President Trump gives us a direction. I dont sit here and make up a decision on what I do. I follow the law." Her comments reflect a broader strategy to address sanctuary cities, which have been criticized for obstructing federal immigration enforcement. Noem further remarked, "We treat everybody the same in this country now that we have President Trump in the White House, and hes going to give us direction on how were going to go after these individuals."

Transparency and accountability were central themes in Noem's discussion, as she highlighted the need to inform citizens about the actions of their local leaders. "The reality is, these sanctuary cities, their laws have caused us problems. They are limiting some of our tools that we want in our toolbox, but were going to continue to go in and use our operations and then show in other cities how its working and tell our story to the American people," she explained. Noem stressed the importance of community awareness, noting, "The people in their community need to hear how their mayors, their elected officials, are protecting the criminals."

Having recently been confirmed by the Senate as DHS Secretary, Noem is tasked with executing President Donald Trump's executive orders on border security and immigration. Her responsibilities extend to overseeing operations at key agencies such as Customs and Border Protection, the Secret Service, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The Trump administration's efforts to enforce immigration laws have included scaling back deportation protections previously extended by President Joe Biden. A DHS memo, obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation, revealed the revocation of an 18-month extension of Temporary Protected Status for approximately 600,000 Venezuelan nationals. This move aligns with the administration's broader objective of prioritizing the deportation of illegal immigrants and reinforcing the rule of law.
