Judge Juan Merchan is the New York State Judge overseeing the case against former President Trump.
Many have already accused the judge of being biased and the jury of potentially being biased. Now, campaign records reveal that the judge donated small donations to progressive candidates and President Joe Biden.
According to Fox News, Federal Election Commission reports show that Merchan, a judge employed by the New York State Office of Court Administration, made a $15 contribution to the Biden for President campaign committee on July 26, 2020, through ActBlue, a Democratic Party fundraising platform.
Thats not the only small donation. Judge Merchan made a $10 contribution to the Progressive Turnout Project and a $10 donation to a committee called Stop Republicans.
A spokesperson said they dont know who those donations came from or if its the same Judge Merchan overseeing the Trump case. The spokesperson continued to point out that concerned parties should take that up with the court. How many different Judge Merchants can there be? Fox News investigated.
According to Fox News, A directory of New York states trial judges lists only one Juan Merchan, who works for the Supreme Court of New York County. Merchan is the Judge who presided over Trumps arraignment in court on Tuesday and also handled the trial of the Trump Organization and its former CFO, Allen Weisselberg.
Trump has repeatedly pointed out the basis of his Truth Social platform. Trump and his supporters frequently call for the trial to be moved to Staten Island, where there is a chance that it will be fair for Trump. The donations may give former President Trump some evidence to prove that the judge is biased against him. On the other hand, the contributions are such a small amount of money that they may not matter.
Regardless of whether the donations matter, this does warrant an investigation to determine if any other political activities may prove bias. Many people have already claimed that evidence that his family members have participated in Democrat activism and supported the Biden-Harris team proves that the judge is biased against Trump.
