In a renewed effort to honor former President Donald Trump, House Republicans are once again proposing a resolution to rename Washington Dulles Airport in Virginia.
The initiative, spearheaded by Freshman Representative Addison McDowell from North Carolina, seeks to rechristen the airport as "Donald J. Trump International Airport."
As reported by Gateway Pundit, the airport currently bears the name of John Foster Dulles, who served as Secretary of State under President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Dulles was also the sibling of Allen Dulles, a former Deputy Director of the CIA. The proposal to rename the airport was initially introduced in March of the previous year by Representative Guy Reschenthaler of Pennsylvania but failed to advance to a vote.
The 2024 resolution has garnered support from 11 co-sponsors, including Representatives Troy Nehls of Texas, Charles Fleischmann of Tennessee, Paul Gosar of Arizona, Barry Moore of Alabama, Andy Ogles of Tennessee, Michael Waltz of Florida, Bob Good of Virginia, Claudia Tenney of New York, William Timmons of South Carolina, Gus Bilirakis of Florida, and Andy Harris of Maryland. With the current political landscape featuring a Republican-controlled House and Senate, along with Donald J. Trump in the presidential office, proponents of the bill anticipate a smoother passage through Congress and subsequent approval by Trump himself.
