Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has expressed his support for President Trump's executive order to release classified documents concerning the assassination of his uncle, former President John F. Kennedy.

Kennedy Jr., who has been nominated by Trump for the position of Secretary of Health and Human Services, emphasized the importance of transparency in government. "I think its a great move because they need to have more transparency in our government and hes keeping his promise to have the government tell the truth to the American people about everything," he stated to reporters.

As reported by The Hill, Kennedy Jr. has long held the belief that the CIA played a role in his uncle's assassination. In a 2023 interview with John Catsimatidis on WABC 770, he asserted, "There is overwhelming evidence that the CIA was involved in his murder. I think its beyond a reasonable doubt at this point." He further elaborated that President Kennedy was targeted due to his resistance to deploying U.S. forces in Vietnam. "When my uncle was President, he was surrounded by a military-industrial complex and intelligence apparatus that was constantly trying to get him to go to war in Laos, Vietnam, etc.," Kennedy Jr. explained. "He refused. He said that the job of the American presidency is to keep the nation out of war."

Despite the CIA's longstanding denial of any involvement in the assassination and its assertion that Lee Harvey Oswald was not affiliated with the agency, the debate continues. Meanwhile, Jack Schlossberg, President Kennedy's grandson, criticized Trump's decision to declassify the documents, suggesting it was politically motivated. "The truth is a lot sadder than the myth a tragedy that didnt need to happen. Not part of an inevitable grand scheme," Schlossberg remarked on social platform X. He accused Trump of using JFK as a "political prop," adding, "Theres nothing heroic about it."
