In a surprising turn of events, former First Lady Michelle Obama has decided to forgo attending the inauguration ceremony of President Trump on January 20, marking her second conspicuous absence at an event involving the soon-to-be 47th President in a matter of weeks.
The reason behind her decision, as reported by The Gateway Pundit, is not as complex as some might speculate.
Contrary to unfounded rumors of a potential divorce from her husband, former President Barack Obama, the real reason for Michelle's absence is far more straightforward. A source close to the former First Lady revealed to People Magazine, "Theres no overstating her feelings about him (Trump). Shes not one to plaster on a pleasant face and pretend for protocols sake. Michelle doesnt do anything because its expected or its protocol or its tradition."
The source further elaborated on Michelle's post-First Lady life, stating, "She served in the public eye and did all the public good that she could for eight years as first lady. Youll see her when she has a project or cause to promote but she doesnt feel the need to be a public figure anymore."
According to The Hill, this sentiment aligns with People Magazine's revelation that Michelle's aversion to Trump and her preference to stay out of the public eye unless it aligns with her interests were the primary reasons for her decision to skip the inauguration.
An ally of Michelle Obama confirmed her sincerity to The Hill, stating, "She meant every word she said on the campaign trail with every fiber of her being. And shes no hypocrite." An aide added, "She campaigned the hardest against him personally, of anyone."
This revelation should not come as a shock, given Michelle's fierce criticism of Trump during the 2024 campaign, including on the eve of the election. While Michelle will be noticeably absent, Barack Obama will be in attendance, alongside former presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush and their respective wives.
Interestingly, the last meeting between Barack Obama and Trump at Jimmy Carters funeral was reportedly cordial. This stark contrast between the Obamas' attitudes towards Trump raises questions about the nature of political decorum and the personal convictions that drive such decisions.
