Amazon Bets BIG On Melania: The First Lady Announces NEXT Project!

Melania Trump, the wife of President-elect Donald Trump, is set to be the subject of a forthcoming documentary.

The film, which is currently in production, is being exclusively licensed by Amazon Prime Video, the streaming division of Jeff Bezos' tech empire. The company announced on Sunday that the documentary will be available for streaming and theatrical release later this year.

According to CBS News, the former and soon-to-be first lady is serving as an executive producer on the project. The film is being directed by Brett Ratner, a Hollywood figure who was notoriously expelled from Warner Brothers studio following allegations of sexual misconduct in 2017. Amazon has described the documentary as providing an "unprecedented behind-the-scenes look" at Melania Trump, promising a "truly unique story." Production began in December, with the release date set for the latter half of this year.

"Prime Video will be sharing more details on the project as filming progresses and release plans are finalized. We are excited to share this truly unique story with our millions of customers around the world," the company stated. Melania Trump, who published a self-titled memoir last year, will resume her role as first lady when her husband is inaugurated on January 20.

This documentary represents another link between Amazon's founder, Bezos, and President-elect Trump. In December, Amazon pledged to donate $1 million to Trump's inauguration fund and announced plans to stream the inauguration on its Prime Video service, an additional in-kind donation valued at $1 million. Despite previous disagreements, Trump and Bezos have recently adopted a more amicable stance as Amazon and other tech companies strive to enhance their rapport with the incoming president.

In December, Bezos expressed enthusiasm about potential regulatory reductions in the upcoming years and conveyed his optimism about Trump's second term. However, his decision not to allow The Washington Post, which he owns, to endorse a presidential candidate in October led to widespread subscription cancellations and protests from long-standing journalists at the newspaper.

The documentary also signifies Ratner's first directorial project since he was accused of sexual misconduct by several women, including actress Olivia Munn, during the early stages of the #MeToo movement in November 2017. Ratner, whose lawyer refuted the allegations, is known for directing the "Rush Hour" film series, "Red Dragon," and "X-Men: The Last Stand."

Argentine filmmaker Fernando Sulichin is serving as an executive producer on the film, which commenced shooting in December. Melania Trump, Donald Trump's third wife, has remained a mysterious figure since her husband declared his candidacy in the 2016 election. Despite her public role as first lady, she has largely maintained her privacy, concentrating on raising their son, Barron, and advancing her "Be Best" initiative, which promotes the "social, emotional, and physical health of children."

Although she made appearances at her husband's 2024 campaign launch event and the closing night of the Republican National Convention last summer, she has largely remained absent from the campaign trail. However, her return to the role of first lady may necessitate a more prominent public presence following Inauguration Day.
