In the aftermath of a devastating ISIS-inspired terror attack that claimed 14 lives and left numerous others injured, Allstate CEO Thomas Wilson's video message, initially aired at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, has been removed.
The video, which was also shared on the company's social media platform, has since disappeared without any given explanation, sparking a wave of controversy.
According to Mediaite, Wilson's message began with, Welcome to the Allstate Sugar Bowl. Our prayers are with the victims and their families. He continued, emphasizing unity and positivity in the face of adversity. "We also need to be stronger together, by overcoming an addiction to divisiveness and negativity. Join Allstate working in local communities all across America to amplify the positive, increase trust, and accept peoples imperfections and differences. Together, we win," Wilson stated.
However, the CEO's message was met with significant backlash, particularly from conservative social media users with substantial followings. A notable critic was Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, who reposted Wilson's message with a scathing commentary. A jihadist killed and maimed dozens of innocent Americans in a hate-fueled rampage, and the CEO of Allstate thinks Americans watching the Sugar Bowl need a lecture from him on overcoming 'an addiction to divisiveness and negativity?' Absolutely not!! Kirk exclaimed.
Kirk was far from the only one to criticize Allstate and Wilson for the now-removed post-terror attack message. The company's decision to delete the video, coupled with their silence on the matter, has only fueled the controversy. It remains to be seen how Allstate will navigate this situation, particularly given the strong conservative backlash. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the delicate balance between corporate messaging and public sentiment in the wake of national tragedies.
