A 26-year-old neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) nurse in Virginia, Erin Elizabeth Ann Strotman, has been apprehended and detained at Henrico County Jail on charges of child abuse and malicious wounding of infants, according to Gateway Pundit.

Strotman is the primary suspect in a series of injuries, including bone fractures, inflicted on newborn babies.

As reported by Gateway Pundit, the initial discovery of these injuries left the staff at Henrico Doctors Hospital in Richmond baffled. As a safety measure, the hospital decided to cease admitting new patients to the NICU by the end of December. Fox News reported that the Virginia police arrested Strotman, a registered nurse, in connection with a disturbing attack that resulted in a vulnerable newborn suffering an "unexplainable fracture" in November. As investigations continue, additional charges may be levied in relation to similar incidents.

Strotman, who was booked into the Henrico County Jail on charges of malicious wounding and child abuse resulting in serious injury, was first issued a registered nurse's license in 2019, valid until May 2026, according to public records. The hospital reported that in November and December, they discovered three infants with unexplainable fractures. They also noted that in 2023, four more babies sustained similar injuries.

Dominique Hackey, a father whose son was among the victims, expressed remorse for not voicing his concerns earlier about the harm inflicted on his child. His son suffered a fractured tibia in 2023, leading the baby's mother, who also has experience as a NICU nurse, to report the injury to social services.

In response to these alarming incidents, the hospital has implemented additional safety measures. These include mandating that staff be accompanied by another doctor or staff member and conducting thorough examinations of patients to detect signs of abuse. This case serves as a stark reminder of the need for vigilance and stringent safety measures in healthcare settings, particularly those caring for the most vulnerable members of society.
