Portland Sanctuary Policy In SPOTLIGHT After BRUTAL Carjacking Gone Wrong!

In a shocking incident last month, an illegal immigrant was apprehended in Portland after allegedly attempting to carjack and subsequently stabbing an 86-year-old man in Clackamas County, Oregon.

The incident took place at a Fred Meyer grocery store, where the elderly man was unloading his groceries. The suspect, Jesus Ascencio-Molina, 31, reportedly stabbed the victim multiple times before fleeing the scene on foot when his carjacking attempt failed.

As reported by The Post Millennial, the Clackamas County Sheriffs Office relayed the victim's account of the incident, stating that after the unsuccessful carjacking attempt, Ascencio-Molina absconded. The victim was then rushed to a local hospital for immediate medical attention. Thanks to the detailed description provided by eyewitnesses who saw Ascencio-Molina flee, law enforcement was able to locate and arrest him at a nearby apartment complex. He now faces charges of second-degree attempted murder, first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, and unlawful use of a weapon.

Interestingly, Ascencio-Molina is not new to the American justice system. He is an illegal Mexican national who was deported from the United States in 2013, as per a 2018 report from the Daily Caller. His criminal record in Oregon is extensive, including a 2018 arrest for an alleged attempted murder involving a nail gun. However, this case, along with a 2016 theft charge, was dismissed by a judge.

Despite Ascencio-Molina's immigration history, Oregon's status as a sanctuary state has put a barrier on local law enforcement agencies' ability to cooperate with federal immigration authorities. Confirming this policy, a spokesperson from the Clackamas County Sheriffs Office stated, "State law prohibits us from inquiring specifically about place of birth or immigration status.

The police have confirmed that Ascencio-Molina is currently being held without bail in the Clackamas County Jail. The charges against him include first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and second-degree attempted murder.
