In a surprising turn of events, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his fiance, Lauren Snchez, were spotted dining with President-elect Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate on Wednesday.
The couple, who were seen walking hand in hand, were greeted with applause and cheers as they entered the room, according to an eyewitness's Instagram Story.
As reported by Page Six, the couple's appearance at the private dinner was quite the spectacle. Snchez, 55, was dressed in a sleek black minidress and clear heels, her hair styled loosely around her face. Bezos, 60, opted for a more casual look, donning a dark suit and a half-unbuttoned white shirt. Trump, 78, stayed true to his signature style, sporting a blue suit with a yellow tie.
This dinner comes on the heels of Bezos expressing his optimism for Trump's upcoming term. "I'm actually very optimistic this time around," the billionaire entrepreneur stated during an interview at the New York Times' DealBook Summit. He further added, "He seems to have a lot of energy around reducing regulation. If I can help do that, I'm going to help him. We do have too many regulations in this country."
In a show of support for the incoming administration, Amazon has pledged to donate $1 million to Trump's inaugural fund. The e-commerce behemoth confirmed to CNN last week that it would make the cash donation before contributing an additional $1 million in-kind by streaming the inauguration on Amazon Prime Video.
The dinner conversation likely revolved around more than just politics, as Snchez's son Evan, 18, and Trump's granddaughter Kai, 17, are both set to attend the University of Miami. Kai, the eldest daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and his ex-wife, Vanessa Trump, announced in August that she had "verbally" committed to the Florida college to play golf and study business. She expressed her gratitude to her grandfather for providing her with "access to great courses and tremendous support."
Snchez, on the other hand, shared on Sunday that Evan was "off to Miami" to study business. "My heart is bursting," she wrote on her Instagram Story. "Beyond proud of you. Love you." Snchez co-parents Evan and daughter Ella, 16, with her ex-husband, Patrick Whitesell, and also has a son Nikko, 23, with ex Tony Gonzalez.
Bezos and Snchez made their relationship public in January 2019, shortly after Bezos announced his divorce from his wife of 25 years, MacKenzie Scott. The couple announced their engagement in May 2023. The recent dinner with Trump signifies a strengthening of ties between the tech mogul and the incoming administration, hinting at a potential collaboration in the future.
