The liberal media and the Democratic party's lack of understanding of the recent election results has been a spectacle to behold.
Their struggle to comprehend President-elect Donald Trump's victory continues to baffle many. However, one individual who appears to have a grasp on the situation is CNN's Van Jones. As reported by RedState, Jones has insightfully pointed out that Trump understood the rise of new media and capitalized on it, effectively turning the mainstream media into the "fringe" and vice versa.
In a conversation with former CNN commentator Chris Cillizza, Jones highlighted the Democrats' lack of comprehension. Cillizza asked, "How the hell did Donald Trump figure out that the mainstream media is the fringe and the fringe is now the mainstream...The 78 year old guy who doesn't even have a computer and still, like, writes handwritten notes? How did he become the guy who cracked the code?" This question, in itself, reveals the Democrats' inability to understand the shifting dynamics of media consumption.
Jones responded to Cillizza's query by pointing out the obvious: if one is observant and can comprehend the numbers that new media is attracting compared to traditional media, it's clear to see the shift. He criticized the Democrats for being stuck in the past, still boasting about traditional campaign strategies like "door knocking."
Cillizza acknowledged the value of platforms like Joe Rogan's podcast, but noted that even this was a challenge for some Democrats, such as Kamala Harris. Jones attributed Trump's understanding of the new media landscape to Elon Musk, although it was actually Barron Trump who suggested appearing on podcasts. This, however, also highlights Trump's intelligence and adaptability. Unlike Harris, Trump was open to engaging with everyone, even those who were likely to criticize him, and he consistently provided concrete policies and answers.
Jones went on to challenge the prevailing narrative about Trump. "Donald Trump is not an idiot. Donald Trump, let me just be very clear. Donald Trump is smarter than me, you, and all critics. You know how I know? Because he has the White House, the Senate, the House, the popular vote" Jones said. He pointed out that Trump had the "fervor" of a political movement behind him, his "best buddy" is the "richest person in the history of the world," and "the most relevant Kennedy is with him."
Jones concluded by labeling Trump as a phenomenon and the most powerful human on earth in our lifetime. He criticized those who still question Trump's success, stating, "We look like idiots." Cillizza agreed with Jones' assessment.
Jones' honesty is commendable, but it's clear that many Democrats and liberal media outlets are still in shock. They continue to blame others for their failures and label Trump as a dictator, failing to understand that such tactics are no longer effective. Jones' analysis challenges their narrative of the past decade, which is likely to be a bitter pill to swallow.
