Anthony Scaramucci, known as 'The Mooch' and former press secretary to Donald Trump, has recently demanded the arrest of the ex-President.
This call to action comes in the wake of Trump's controversial remarks about Liz Cheney, a surrogate for Vice President Kamala Harris.
During an event in Glendale, Arizona, on October 31, Trump was questioned by Tucker Carlson, a former Fox News host, about his opinion on Cheney. Trump's response was far from diplomatic, as reported by Newsweek, "She's a radical war hawk. Let's put her with the rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her. OK, let's see how she feels about it. You know, when the guns are trained on her face."
Scaramucci, who served as Trump's press secretary for a mere 11 days, took to social media platform X (previously known as Twitter) to express his outrage at these comments. He stated, "Trump should be taken into custody. He is a convicted felon and just violated the conditions of his bail agreement by threatening someone's life. He needs to be sent away." The Trump campaign has been contacted for a response to these allegations.
The specific bail condition Scaramucci is referring to remains unclear. Efforts have been made to reach out to him for clarification. Scaramucci, a Harvard Law School graduate and former Trump associate, has been vocal in his opposition to Trump, labeling him unfit for office.
Scaramucci has been a staunch supporter of Vice President Kamala Harris, even after she stepped in for Joe Biden. He has been known to make light of Trump's physical attributes, once joking about his "tiny hands."
After his dismissal by Trump, Scaramucci withdrew his support for the re-election campaign in August 2019. In June 2020, he co-founded the Right Side PAC with fellow Republicans, aiming to sway voters in swing states to back other candidates.
Scaramucci's criticisms of Trump extend beyond his political conduct. He has publicly condemned Trump's behavior at Arlington cemetery and his alleged altercation with a staff member during a CNN interview.
Before his brief stint in politics, Scaramucci worked in investment banking. His tenure as the White House communications director is one of the shortest in history, equalling that of a member of former president Ronald Reagan's staff, as per NBC.
Trump is currently living under bail restrictions imposed by the state of Georgia due to an ongoing investigation into his alleged criminal attempts to overturn the 2020 election. He vehemently denies any wrongdoing.
Scaramucci's claim that Trump is a felon pertains to a trial in New York where Trump was found guilty on 34 counts following a hush money payment trial. The former president is awaiting sentencing, which has been postponed until after the election. Despite the verdict, Trump continues to assert his innocence and may yet file an appeal.
