Former President Donald Trump has thrown his weight behind Rep. Michelle Steel, a Republican incumbent representing California's 45th Congressional District.
In a recent endorsement, Trump lauded Steel as one of the country's "strongest Congresswomen."
According to Fox News, Trump's endorsement was unequivocal, as he proclaimed on Truth Social, "Michelle Steel has my Complete and Total Endorsement - SHE WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN!" He further praised Steel as an "America First Patriot" whose family courageously escaped the clutches of Communism. "Michelle brings that same fighting spirit to Congress, and will never back down against the Communists, Marxists, and Socialists on the Radical Left," Trump asserted.
Born in South Korea and raised in Japan, Steel's family history is marked by resilience. Her parents, who fled North Korea during the Korean War, built a life in South Korea before relocating to Japan. Steel, an immigrant herself, has been serving in the House of Representatives since 2021, following her tenure as chair of the Orange County Board of Supervisors.
Trump's endorsement highlighted Steel's commitment to restoring the American Dream, growing the economy, securing the border, supporting the military and veterans, and protecting the Second Amendment. "During my Administration, Michelle worked with us to achieve the lowest ever unemployment for Vietnamese Americans, and ALL Americans," Trump stated.
In his endorsement, Trump also took a swipe at Steel's Democratic opponent, Derek Tran. He described Steel as a "Tremendous Champion" for her district, while painting Tran as a "Radical Left Puppet of Communist China, who will put our Country, and Safety, LAST." In contrast, Trump affirmed that Steel will always prioritize California and America.
