In a recent update on the impending Hurricane Milton, Vice President Harris was seen fumbling through her address to the Floridians.
During the briefing, organized by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Harris was caught off guard, reminding her staff that they were on a live broadcast.
According to Fox News, President Biden and Vice President Harris were briefed on the life-saving preparations for Hurricane Milton by disaster relief authorities. The duo was also updated on the forecast and the anticipated impacts on Florida. While President Biden was present at the White House for the meeting, Harris and other officials attended virtually.
In an unexpected turn of events, Harris was seen covering her mouth, seemingly conveying a message to an off-screen individual. "Its a live broadcast," she was heard saying. This incident occurred nearly 20 minutes after Harris had struggled through her address to the residents of Florida, frequently glancing down, presumably at notes or a script.
Addressing the Floridians, particularly those in the Tampa region, Harris urged, "We urge you to take this storm seriously. As has been said before, this is a storm that is expected to be of historic proportions. And many of you, I know are tough and youve ridden out these hurricanes before. This ones going to be different." She further emphasized the severity of the situation, stating, "We ask you that by every measure understand it's going to be more dangerous, more deadly and more catastrophic. So please listen to your local officials. They know what they're talking about. They know what they're doing. And if you are told to evacuate, please evacuate immediately. Do not wait until it is too late."
Fox News Digital attempted to reach out to Harris' office for a comment on the incident but has not received a response yet.
Hurricane Milton, which has fluctuated to Category 5 storm strength multiple times over the past two days, made landfall as a Category 3 storm on Wednesday night in the Tampa, Florida area. Forecasters have issued warnings that Milton could generate devastating storm surges of up to 12 to 13 feet. This serves as a stark reminder of the importance of heeding official advice and taking necessary precautions in the face of such potentially catastrophic events.
