WATCH: Nikki Haley Confronts JD Vances Harmful Comments

Written by Published

Nikki Haley, a former Republican presidential candidate, has publicly criticized Senator JD Vance (R-OH) for his controversial remarks about women without children.

The comments, which have recently come to light, were a topic of discussion during Haley's appearance on CBS' Face the Nation.

According to Mediaite, Haley was questioned by moderator Margaret Brennan about Vance's 2021 comments, where he targeted Randi Weingarten, the President of the American Teachers Union. Vance had stated, If she wants to brainwash and destroy the minds of children, she should have some of her own and leave ours the hell alone.

Brennan highlighted Vance's pattern of offensive comments towards women, including his derogatory reference to childless cat ladies in 2021. She asked Haley, That is going to hurt, wont it, with female voters?

Haley responded, Its not helpful, emphasizing the point by repeating it.

Brennan further probed, Is he an effective messenger for the policies you say they are stronger on? To which Haley responded, You can either look at style or you can look at substance. I choose as a voter to look at substance.

When Brennan questioned the substance of Vance's comments, Haley clarified, The substance is cutting taxes, making housing more affordable, immigration, national security, thats the substance. She added, The style is- no, it is not helpful to talk about whether women have children or whether they dont. Its not helpful to say any of those things that are personality driven or anything else. I have said that, and I will continue to say to Republicans, stop it! Thats not helpful.

Earlier in the interview, Haley expressed her readiness to campaign for former President Donald Trump, despite their previous contentious GOP primary battle. However, she noted that she has not yet been asked to do so.
