The Results Are In: 2024 Presidential Candidate "Favorability" Poll
In the race for the 2024 presidential election, independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is currently leading the pack, according to a recent Harvard CAPS-Harris poll.
The survey, which was released on Monday and shared with The Hill, revealed that Kennedy enjoys a 52 percent favorability rating among respondents, outpacing other potential candidates.
The poll also indicated that 27 percent of respondents held an unfavorable opinion of Kennedy, resulting in a net favorability rating of 25 points, the highest among all candidates surveyed. This score significantly surpassed that of former President Trump, who, despite being viewed favorably by 51 percent of respondents, had a net favorability rating of just 7 points due to 44 percent of respondents viewing him unfavorably.
Current President Biden's favorability rating was found to be lower, with 49 percent of respondents expressing an unfavorable opinion of him, while 46 percent held a favorable view. This resulted in a net favorability rating of -2 for the incumbent president.
"Robert Kennedy has positioned himself to appeal to members of both parties though it is unclear how much of his ratings are from in-depth knowledge of Kennedy vs. his popular family name," said Mark Penn, co-director of the Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) was viewed favorably by 44 percent of respondents, but unfavorably by 38 percent, resulting in a net favorability rating of 6 points. Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, on the other hand, was viewed favorably by 43 percent of respondents, with 29 percent holding an unfavorable view. Despite this, her net favorability rating of 14 points was higher than that of DeSantis.
Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy also featured in the poll, with 37 percent of respondents expressing a favorable opinion of him, while 29 percent held an unfavorable view. This resulted in a net favorability rating of 8 points for Ramaswamy, also surpassing DeSantis.
These results come in the wake of Kennedy's announcement last month that he was switching from the Democratic Party to run as an independent in his presidential campaign. The Harvard CAPS-Harris survey was conducted on November 15-16, with a total of 2,851 respondents participating.
The survey is a collaboration between the Center for American Political Studies at Harvard University and the Harris Poll, and while it is an online sample drawn from the Harris Poll and weighted to reflect known demographics, it does not report a probability confidence interval.
