In the upcoming 2024 election, former President Donald Trump is said to be contemplating the selection of Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., as his vice-presidential candidate.

This speculation emerged after a dinner at Mar-a-Lago, where Stefanik's name was suggested, following her incisive questioning of university presidents regarding antisemitism on their campuses. Trump reportedly responded positively to the idea, describing Stefanik as "a killer."

Stefanik, who has been in the public eye since her grilling of the presidents of Harvard, the University of Pennsylvania, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, addressed the vice-presidential rumors during a Fox News interview with Brian Kilmeade on January 10. "I'm not going to get into the conversations that I have with President Trump. We speak frequently, I've said for a year now, I'm proud to be the first member of Congress to endorse President Trump for re-election, and I would be honored to serve in a Trump administration in any capacity," Stefanik stated.

During her questioning of the university presidents, Stefanik asked if "calling for the genocide of Jews" violated their university's rules on bullying and harassment. Claudine Gay, the recently resigned Harvard president, replied, "it can be, depending on the context." She further explained, "Antisemitic speech when it crosses into conduct that amounts to bullying, harassment, intimidation that is actionable conduct, and we do take action."

Liz Magill, the former president of UPenn, also resigned following criticism of her evasive congressional testimony. Stefanik's loyalty, demonstrated by her unwavering support for Trump, has reportedly kept her on his radar. "If youre Trump, you want someone whos loyal above all else," a Republican campaign operative told NBC News. "Particularly because he sees Mike Pence as having made a fatal sin."
